Babies: 6 - 9 Months

Overnight diapers, or just move up a size?

My LO is almost 21 pounds at 7.5 months.  Her dipes are soo full in the morning with pee, it boggles my mind how they hold it all.  I have read both good and bad reviews about the overnight dipes, so I'm wondering if I should just bite the bullet and go up to size 4.  Size 4 just seem so big.  My best friend's 2 year old still wears size 4!  What have you all done?  And thanks for your responses, my home board is July 2011, but a few of those ladies can be down right horrendous and I don't feel like dealing with their BS when I just want opinions on diapers.  TIA!

  • Get these

Diaper booster pads.  They work wonders!  Our LO is a tummy sleeper and pee's all night long.  We were changing his sheets daily until we got these pads.  We haven't had any leakage issues since we started using them months ago.

  • My LO is 20 pounds and 7.5 months old. We use size 3 diapers but she could fit into the 4. I've been using the huggies overnight size 3 and they work great. I find one pack lasts a while since your only using one a night.

  • What brand are you using? We've been using Huggies and those were actually pretty good at night (size 3 snug and dry or whatever the basic huggies is) and we just bought pampers size 3 and they seems so much fuller and I'm not sure why...I like the idea of the liner though!

  • We use size 4 at night and 3 during the day for DD1, though I think we're headed to 4s during the day in the next week or so. She was waking up soaked through her diaper, PJ's, everything, and going up a size at night worked great for us.

  • I use Huggies Little Movers in size 3.  I guess I should also add that she blows out about 5 out of 7 days a week :/  I like the idea for the liners at night though.  I wonder what the price difference is between those and just a pack overnights... hmm.

  • DD is almost 6 mo old and is around 19 pounds (yep, she is a chunk).  We bought size 4 Huggies overnight diapers yesterday in hopes that she (and the PNP) wouldn't be covered in urine this morning.  No luck.

Put diaper on her @ 10pm.  Checked her at 7am.  Diaper disaster.  Sheets, PJs, everthing was totally soaked...second day in a row.

We are still looking for a solution.  Going up a size IN overnight diapers did not work for us.

  • Huggies Overnights!  And quite honestly, I haven't kept up with what is going on on our home board, but I just completely ignore the whole issue.

ETA: Don't go up a size in these.  The leg holes get to big and they will leak.

  • We use Pampers overnight diapers.  They're actually cheaper per diaper than Huggies, though the box is more expensive (Pampers puts about 20 more diapers in there).  I always buy a size up from what he's wearing.  Right now, he's 7.5 m and 20+ pounds, so he normally wears a size 3.  His night diapers are a size 4.  That way, if we're in the middle of a box when he goes up a size, I already have night diapers in that size.  Since they come in boxes of 80, it gives me more wiggle room on timing when he grows.  There have been times (like this morning) that I have been shocked that the darn thing hasn't leaked or exploded.  He loaded them up from both ends and they hold tight.

The liners would be cheaper overall.  They're $20 for 180.  Huggies overnights are $20 for 60 and Pampers overnights are $25 for 80.  At least, that's what they run at Target.  I can't always find them at the grocery.

  • DS was just having problems peeing through his diapers overnight.  We tried Huggies Overnights and they seem to do the trick.  No leaks since starting them.  I just used the current size that he is in (size 3s).

  • Don't worry about sizes; just go with what works. DS wears size 4 diapers during the day and size 5 at night.

  • You guys are going to laugh at us :p   I tried the overnights, I tried the size up and I tried a cloth diaper cover and every single night my LO woke up PO'ed because he was wet to the sheet.  So... one night I put him in his regular Huggies Little Movers size 3 and over top of that I put a Little Movers Size 4.  No leaks since we started this.  Plus if he gets fussy in the middle of the night due to a wet diaper (which happens sometimes) I just unfasten both and pull the first diaper off and refasten the size 4 tight and put him pack to bed.  He last few hours the larger diaper works just fine. My LO also still gets up to eat at least once per night.

LOL!  Whatever works, right?  I would have never thought of doing that.  I think I'm going to try the inserts, and then if they don't work, I'll splurge for the overnights.  Thanks for everyone's input! :)
