weight training after C-section

Any C-section mamas who weight train on here? I am chomping at the bit to get back to my trainer sessions in a couple of weeks, and I wondered if most of you were cleared at 6 weeks to resume lifting. My trainer books up fast, and I'd like to get on his schedule if it seems like 6 weeks is pretty standard to resume lifting.

If it helps with your answer, I lifted heavy up to two days before delivery, I feel great (just very minor superficial pain, almost like a skinned knee, at my incision), and I've been walking a couple of miles at a time for a week now. I can sit up easily from lying down without using my hands.

  • I was cleared at 8 weeks to do light lifting. Even that was too much for me, though, and I haven't done any since. Granted, I started back at work and had zero time. Whatever you do, definitely take it slow. Everyone told me that and I thought I was taking it slow, but my body needed to be eased into exercise even more than I thought it did.

  • I was cleared at 8 weeks but they started me off very slowly because of the incision.
