Ok ladies I need some help. My wife and I went in for an IUI last Friday. I had been taking Follistim and did my Ovidrel trigger 30 hours before my IUI procedure. I had the IUI and on that day my RE did an ultrasound and I had not yet ovulated. We used frozen ds. I had ovulation pains about 8 hours after the IUI procedure. I am driving myself crazy with the timing issue. Does frozen sperm live that long? If the sperm was in my tube and I did not ovulate until about eight hours later could the sperm still be viable? Did anyone else have a similar experience and still get a bfp? We are very hopeful as this may be our last try. Thank you all so much I don't know where I would be without others that understand how stressful it is for same sex couples to conceive.
Re: IUI timing
From what I've read donor sperm can live up to about 12 hours after IUI, so if you did indeed ovulate 8 hours after IUI you'd have a chance for pregnancy. I've also read that something like 99% of the time if you take Ovidrel with a mature follicle you will ovulate within 24-48 hours.
I think I'm a little glad my RE doesn't do day-of-IUI ultrasounds. The knowing can drive you almost as crazy as the not knowing...
Good luck!
