The doctor ordered Lupon for me on my last cycle in error. So this time I will be using Lupron and I assumed I would be able to use the one that they called in last cycle. The nurse is now telling me that I need Lupron flare which is a compound medication so I still will not be able to use it. I just hate that I wasted money on it and still have to buy more meds. And even if I can not use it I dont even know if it would useful to anyone on the board. Can anyone help me understand the difference or if the Lupron that I have can be mixed at home?

Re: Lupron vs. Lupron Flare
I'm not sure that mixing it at home is something that you could/should do. However, you might be able to have it prepared for you at your clinic or a local pharmacy. I was on compounded microdose Lupron for the flare protocol. As far as I know, it is just a "watered down" version of the regular Lupron.
I had to purchase my md Lupron through Caremark (mail-order pharmacy), and they actually prepared it for me ahead of time. That said, the actual vial it came in is simply labelled as "Sterile Empty Vial" (10 mL, for use in mixing sterile preparations). The outer container for the vial is just a regular Rx pill bottle. The label on that bottle is the sort typically on a Rx -- it's that label which contains all the details about the medication and my dosage (along with my name, prescribing Dr, etc). According to that label, the md Lupron's final concentration = 50 mcg/0.2mL. It also had a "do not use after" label, which was only a couple weeks after the Rx was filled.
Not sure if this info helps any! I hope things work out so that you are able to use the medication that you already have on-hand!

I will be on the microdose. I figured all they are going to do at the pharmacy is to dilute it with something like sterile water. I just wonder since I order it from Freedom would any of the local pharmacies mix it for me?
