Cheese Question???

I know this might sound silly, but I have heard to stay clear of all soft cheeses while pregnant, but what about grated cheese? Tonight I was making dinner and recipe called for Grated Pecorino Romano Cheese, does anyone know if this is on the "can eat list"!!  Thanks so much!!!

  • Yep. I was freaking out about the soft cheese thing because cheese is one of my favorite foods EVER. My husband and I did more research and found that most cheese you get in American grocery stores, soft or not, is produced with pasteurized milk. :)

Yeah, pretty much any cheese you'd want to eat is perfectly fine unless you go out of the country or get some specialty cheese that hasn't been pasteurized.

  • Just stay away from things that aren't pasteurized, which shouldn't be an issue.

  • and remember that if you do slip and have a "no" cheese you'll very very likely be fine.
