I'm so sorry. This is such a hard and personal decision. With my first loss, I was already bleeding and cramping, so I passed the baby just a few hours after the ultrasound. With my more recent miscarriage, I had no bleeding and still had lots of pregnancy symptoms, so I opted for the D&C. The procedure itself was really not a big deal at all (physically). I was totally sedated and felt and remembered nothing. My recovery was very easy too. Are you having any cramping or bleeding yet?
this is the first time I'm not having any sings of a miscarriage like the other times I had bleeding and went to the er so it was a shock when she said the baby has no hart beat
I'm so sorry, really. This is just the worst. For me, choosing a D&C seemed like the lesser of the evils. I had a definitive date when it would be over, and I knew there would be no pain. Do you have any questions about the procedure itself?
Well- SInce it is your 4th loss- your Dr is probably recommending a D&C so that he can send teh tissue off for chromosomal testing to see if you can get any answers as to why you had this loss ( and possibly why you had previous losses if a repetitive issue comes up)... the only way to get this analysis is to get a d&c so that they can make sure that all the tissue is sent off....Its a very personal decision to make- and you have to weigh all your options- but it may help with closure and get you some answers as well. Did your Dr tell you specifically why he was recommending this????
