tips for interviewing??

I'm STILL trying to find a job (laid off 10 days after DD was born in 2010) and have gotten a couple little leads that may get me an interview or two!  yay!

Anyway, I'm very visibly pregnant now and wondering if anyone has any tips for interviewing while pregnant or immediately post partum??

TIA!!

  • I have recently been interviewing so I understand what you're going through.  My advice would be not to mention your pregnancy (they can't ask, its illegal) and focus on your skill set and what you bring to the table.  Once you have an offer you can negotiate maternity leave (if you get one before your LO is due).  I think my advice postpartum would be the same, you'd likely be able to negotiate a start date that gives you a reasonable period of time with your new LO.  GL!

  • My tip is to get any job in your field asap.   2010 is almost 2 yrs ago.  If you want to stay marketable then you need to have something current on your resume.  You are at 30 weeks now it looks like, maybe you can do temp work until the baby comes then look into something perm after you deliver. Keep the temp assignments going though while you search.  It makes you MUCH more marketable.

Sorry, I should have clarified.  I am currently working as a substitute teacher and I work part time in retail.  I don't typically put the retail position on my resume (it's not really relevant as I'm a counselor) but I do have the subbing listed on there so that it doesn't appear as though i've been sitting on my behind for a year and a half ; )
