I've seen a couple of lists on different websites, but are the names released yearly like they are in the US? I'm interested to see what my tops names are doing in our Province.
Likely the 2011 names won't be released until this summer. However Alberta is great in that they have lists of what every single baby was named in that year, with every spelling. I know there were only 13 baby Holly's born in 2010 because of this just google Alberta baby names.
Hey! The 2011 names in Alberta were released a week or two ago! Here's the link (sorry not clicky). And you can follow the link in the article to the searchable database
Just read that article... who the hell named their kid 'Moo' and 'J-cub' ?? That was so full of fail it's unbelievable.
Wanna know something so embarrassing?! It wasn't until I was telling these ridiculous names to a friend and she said to me, "but I love the name Jacob!" did I realize that J-Cub was a "spelling" of the name Jacob! I felt so dumb! It's so ridiculous that I couldn't even see the connection....

Same here with J-Cub. I was reading them to my DH and he was all, 'what's so weird about Jacob' and it took me a minute, and then I realized what he meant.

I missed that too. Sheesh. Is it sad that I know who Tuff is, because there was another boy at dd's school named this and another mom thought it was a strong name, so she used it? And that the "older" Tuff lost the draw for names with his siblings. I'd have to ask dd again, but they're fairly common names, and spelled correctly.
And Moo, so sad for that kid. At least the radio has let up about that one. Now they're whining about redshirting.
