Low grade to low fever (100 -101) with a cough. That's it. No sore throat, no ear ache, no vomiting. Fever keeps coming back every 4-6 hours with Motrin and is higher today than yesterday.
I'm used to viruses having higher temps, but it's been awhile since my kids have had one and they're older now. I thought a lower temp meant bacterial infection, but doesn't look like she has one. I figure if she still has it tomorrow afternoon I will take her to the ped then, but was curious if anyone had seen this before.
Re: Does this sound like a virus going around?
DD just got diagnosed with a sinus infection. She had a low-grade fever awhile ago, with really no symptoms. Over the past week, she's developed a cough that just kept getting worse. I gave her some cough meds and they did nothing, so I took her in on Friday to get ears/lungs checked and he said it was a sinus infection that was draining to her lungs and put her on amoxicillan.
I feel a little like it was a default diagnosis, but the meds are helping. My mom's a teacher and she says that "everyone" is coughing this winter. So, maybe it wouldn't hurt to bring her in?
That is similar to what is going around here. Along with cough and fever is sore lymph nodes. That is what ds had and ds had along with strep but she also had a runny nose.
I went to the dr with these symptoms (cough, fever up to 102, hard to breath and sore lymph nodes). Was told its a viral chest infection. A friend of mine that is a nurse in the ER said she has seen a lot of it and the ER drs are calling vital bronchitis. It feels exactly like bronchitis. My cheat heavy and it's hard to breath. . Since its viral they wont give antibiotics and I was told after 4 days already that it could last another 5-7days. Ugh!!!!
