Violet has always been my girls name. I feel like lately I've been hearing it everywhere. Not that it matters I guess bc I still love it, I just never wanted to pick a super popular name if I had a girl. Do you think of it as one of the current trendy names?

Re: How trendy is Violet?
Yep, this! I hear it on here a lot, but I have never met one IRL! It is on our list, I love it!
It's definitely seeing a rise in popularity with the old fashioned names making a comeback, but I wouldn't call it trendy. According to SSA it was 123 in 2010, a somewhat dramatic increase from 904 in 1998. But this name is a classic. It reached it's peak in the late 1910s, early 1920s but only has a few years of not ranking in top 1000 at all. I think it will continue to rise some, but I don't see it going past the top 50.
I do not know anyone in real life with the name, nor do I suspect anyone my age would chose the name. Not that everyone I know likes trendy names, but most of them would pick a consistently popular name like Elizabeth or Sarah.
It's been on my girl's name list for a long time. I don't know any young Violets IRL, but know quite a few elderly Violets. I think the name is so pretty and ages so well.
I'm jumping on the popular-not-trendy bandwagon.
I don't like the name for some reason, but I don't think its recent popularity would discourage me from using it. It's not as popular as, say, Jack or Ella, so I wouldn't worry about it.

With older names coming back, I've seen a lot of Violet talk on this board. TONS. I think it will become much more popular over the coming years... If that bothers you, don't use it, if not, go for it... I don't think it will hit top 10 over the next few years - and by then, there will be a new trend.

Diagnosed hypothyroidism.
I named my daughter Violet.
I think its rising in popularity (but still not in Top 100), but not trendy.
It is old fashioned, imo, and cute and kind of spunky!
I get lots of compliments and almost everyone says "oh my grandma (great-grandma), aunt (great-aunt) was named Violet!
