Cloth Diapering

one size diaper that fits smaller babies?

I know all one size diapers say they fit the standard 8lbs-35ish lbs.  I am just wondering what is a one size diaper that fits a bit smaller?

I just bought some alva baby and have heard that they fit a bit bigger, so I am looking for something that will fit a bit smaller until baby can fit in to my bigger ones.  Thanks for your help!  Just trying to build my stash slowly but surely.

PS I am planning to just use sposies until baby can fit in one size diapers (unless someone gives me a super cheap option :) )

  • I think that Fuzzibuns OS Elite run small, but they are not cheap.  I also think that the elite run smaller that the older OS style.

  • Our Rumparooz fit the earliest by far. They have a short rise.

  • Kawaii has a couple options that run small (likely won't last to potty training).

How early did they fit?  Just not trying to use sposies longer than I have to :)

  • We used Charlie Banana OS right away. They have an adjustable leg band that would work for smaller babies.

  • Softbums are supposed to fit newborn to potty training, and when I compare them size wise to my other one sized, they do adjust way smaller than the others I have (thirsties duo wraps and something else)
  • They're not exactly one size, but the Thirsties Duo All-in-One fit right away. The size 1s go up to 18 lbs so we will be able to use them for a while. They're not too expensive (right now Abby's Lane has them on sale for $12.75; they usually cost $15) and they fit our newborn when he was in the 7lb range.

  • Thanks for all the input.  I have a fuzzibunz elite and reg in my amazon cart, I just need to get the courage to click and buy.  I started looking at the softbums but MAN are they expensive!  And you don't even get an insert with the purchase of the $20 dollar cover... eek. I might buy one but just don't see them as a long term solution... so we will see.

Does anyone know if Happy Heinys fit smaller?  I have read conflicting reports :)

  • I find that Happy Heinys run pretty large for a OS diaper. They are definitely the most generously sized pockets we have - I didn't have them when my son was a newborn, but I doubt they would fit a tiny baby.

I agree with the previous poster about Charlie Banana, and I also find that Sunbabies have a small, trim fit. Those are super affordable too, so that might be a good option :)
