3D ultrasound looked weird...

Yesterday I got my anatomy ultrasound and the doc said that all looked well with the baby. At the end, he was trying to get a pic of baby's face for us because she was in weird position. He turned it to 3D for a few seconds and we were kind of able to see her face. It was strange though because her face almost looked deformed!..Like her nose was misshapen and one of her eyes looked dark. The doctor didn't seemed concerned so it must have just been a weird angle but has anyone else experienced anything like this? It totally freaked me out!

She's still looks like an alien at 19 weeks PLUS it's kinda like you are looking at their face smushed up against a glass window. I wouldn't worry about it. My pic looked weird-ish at my 20w2d u/s but was a lot better at 21w4d when I had to go back because she didn't fully cooperate the first time around.

I'm going in monday for an elective sex check to see if we can see anything. They advertise a quick peek in 4D... I am honestly kind of scared to look! I know they look like little alien zombies at this point and I'm afraid I'll be completely freaked out.

I had to laugh at your post just because I felt the same way at my A/S...It freaked me out. I also have an anterior placenta, so my baby is behind the placenta and really had to make out his face by trying to ignore the placenta..It was really hard. I told DH that he looked like an owl or something.

The 3D ultrasounds freak me out.  We've gotten a few between my DS and this one and it's made me really comfortable waiting until the baby is born to see them in any further detail.

It's good to know i'm not alone! At one point it almost looked like she had three nostrils it was awful! I almost wish he hadn't have switched it to 3D lol! Thanks for the responses

all my friends had these cute pics and mine (i thought) looked crazy weird.  but she came out just perfect.  those montiors can really freak you out!

this exactly hahaha I got my 3d on monday for my birthday so I was further along and she looked alot bette but she kept opening her eyes in there and it freaked me out. shes going to look really cute though cant wait to see her

My 3D ultrasound was done at 19 weeks as well and it's in my siggy. It wasn't as good as the ones done at 30+ weeks but I didn't mind it. Hopefully you will get a better one around 32 weeks!!

The pics look better later in pregnancy.  Usually 30-ish weeks is the best time for a 3d u/s.  Prior to that the baby doesn't have much fat, so they look skeletal and weird.

I'm not a fan of 3D ultrasounds.  We never had any with my son which was about 4 years ago.  But the tech did give us one 3D picture, her hand was in her face, I think she was sucking her thumb so it looks like she has a HUGE nose.  Plus they have very little fat on them so most 3D images look weird.
