Flats $??

I was looking into maybe getting some flats, just to try them out.  I thought they would be less expensive than regular prefolds, but they are not.

Why would they be more money?  Aren't they just a big piece of material.

  • The only flats (I think) that are more pricey than prefolds are the ones that are bamboo terry. That I've seen anyways. I <3 them!! Totally worth the extra IMO.

I have those. I actually really like them a lot.  I had bough them because i was interested in trying flats and I had to spend $7 to get free shipping on another order.  I think the higher price nowadays is because less people use them.

  • I made 4 out of leftover flannel in the same size that GMD newborn flats are (I think 28x28ish after washing).  That might be an option if you just want to put your toe in the water.

You can also use the hospital receiving blankets, they work great.

But beware, using a snappi on flannel is a PITA.  The weave is so much tighter, it's harder to get the snappi to stick.
