I had an OB appt today, I'm 39 weeks exactly. No sign of the baby coming out anytime soon. My OB said he won't let me go past 41 weeks and asked how I felt about being induced. I'd ideally like the baby to come whenever he or she is ready, but I expected him to at least let me go 42 weeks before he would consider inducing.
Anyone else potentially being induced?
Re: Induction at 41 weeks?
I am 41 weeks tomorrow. I am scheduled to go in for the ripening agents Monday morning and will be allowed home after around 4 hours. If that doesnt bring on labor I am scheduled for induction on Tuesday am. Our baby is measuring big, 9lb 6oz, so that along with the induction probably increases my chance for a C Section, but I am still hoping to deliver vaginally!
i'm actually 41 weeks and 5 days today. my doctor won't let me go past 42 weeks so i have an induction scheduled for sunday night. he saw no medical reason to induce any sooner...and being "uncomfortable" doesn't count
however i've had 2 doctor appointments per week since my due date with ultrasounds to check the heart rate, baby measurements (make sure the baby is still growing and not too big), and check amniotic fluid. my fluid levels are great and the placenta is still going strong.
ask your dr. about a "bishop score". standard medical assessment my doctor used it to chart whether or not inducing sooner than 42 weeks would be effective and result in a vaginal delivery. good luck!
This is incorrect. 41 weeks is just standard for your OB. My OB, like many others, waits up to 2 weeks after your EDD. And your placenta doesn't start dying at 41 weeks. It may begin calcifying, but that can also happen much earlier.

I am scheduled for induction on Tuesday, Ill be exactly 41 weeks on Tuesday (still hoping he comes sooner) but my doctor wanted the induction scheduled in between 41 and 42 weeks. She said she doesnt like any of her patients getting to close to 42 weeks.
