Guilty Pleasure- Gaililea

The other day while I was searching 'Beyond the Top 1000' (thanks mjreilly siggy) to see where the name we did choose landed, I came across the name Gaililea. It was just around the 1000 mark. Like I just said, we already have our name, it is just that I wish someone we knew would use it. I find the 'G' and 'L' sounds with all those vowels so appealing.

I know many don't like place names or biblical ones for that matter but, this is definitely on my GP list now.

Okay, that is enough of my GP indulgence for today!

Re: Guilty Pleasure- Gaililea

  • It sounds OK, but visually, there are too many i's and l's in a row. It looks like Galllllllllea.
  • I see it as Gallilea (Gah li lee uh), a play off of the Sea of Gallilee. I kind of like it. It flows well.

If it is really Gaililea (GAY li lee uh), then I'm not sure I like it.

In my head, I'm pronouncing it like Gallilee.

  • Me too, that's why i don't get the first I. I'd spell it Gallilea, not Gaililea.

Come to think of it, it could be the female version of Galileo.  That would be cool.

  • A female version of Galileo is what came to mind for me, I didn't even think of a Biblical connection. I started singing the "Galileo, Figaro" bit from Bohemian Rhapsody in my head when I saw the title!

I want to pronounce it as Gallilea.... but there is an extra "i" and looks like "Gail-ilea.  Which I don't like at all.  There are way too many "i's" and "l's" in a row. It hurts my eyes.

    Agree. I'd prefer Gallilea.
