Forgot My Handsfree Pumping Bra

In my never-ending forgetfullness, I forgot my handsfree pumping bra this morning.  Right now I have the flanges sort of wedged in my bra, but as the bottles become more full I have a feeling they're going to fall out.

Any other tricks for pumping handsfree without a handsfree bra?

Re: Forgot My Handsfree Pumping Bra

  • If you're wearing a regular nursing bra, you can use 2 ponytail holders to attach the bottle to the hook on your bra.  The combo of suction from the breast shield and the ponytail holder holds the bottle well!  Take two ponytail holders and loop them through each other so they make a figure 8 shape. Slide the narrow end of breast shield through one loop and attach to bottle base, then use other loop to hook on bra!  Voila!  Hands-free!!!  Hope this helps!

  • I have never used a hands-free bra and I pump all week at work.  I get everything positioned with both hands and then after the suction gets going, I can usually lean forward and let the bottles rest on my leg.  Sometimes I have to use one hand/arm to hold them in place, but I can use the other hand to play on my phone.  But I only need about 10-15 minutes to pump -- I might reconsider if I were one of those people that needed to pump for 30 minutes.

Thank you!  I have a whole stash of ponytail holders and will try this the next time I pump.

And to other poster - I forgot my flanges, etc. twice in the last week.  So I bought another set to leave at work just in case.

Unfortunately, I took the bra out to wash last night and never put it back.

I'm all of this.  I don't get a lot of milk so I have never pumped for more than 10-15 minutes.  I do the leaning forward trick too when I'm tired of holding them.  But I don't think I could concentrate on anything well enough if I was trying to pump and work at the same time.  And I made an emergency trip to Target the one time I forgot my flanges (and bottles!) so I keep that set at work now.

  • Just lurking here right now, but when I was pumping for DS, I found a hands free bra substitute that worked really well - I took my belly bands from pregnancy, pulled them up over my chest (right over my nursing bra) and cut holes just big enough for the flanges to fit through.  It worked great, and since I had a few belly bands, it was a cheap way to always have a clean one handy in my pump bag.

This is what I do everyday.  Saved me the money of buying a hands free bra.
