Cloth Diapering

lanolin for diaper rash?

I just read on GMD that you can use lanolin for diaper rash, and that it's (supposedly) CD safe. I still have some left over from the early wks of breastfeeding, I didn't know you could use it for this.

Has anyone tried it for diaper rash? What did you think?

  • I wouldn't. Lanolin repels water. That's what the function is in sheep wool, and what it's used for when you lanolize wool for cloth diaper. I'm a little surprised that they claim that it's cd safe.

  • It may work on PFs, if it washes out completely, but I wouldn't take the risk.

Lanolin is what we use to waterproof wool- so I would assume it would waterproof my CDs as well.  This just seems like a bad idea (especially on synthetic fabrics).

  • I've used it.  It does work.  And it washes out with soap.  It won't waterproof the CDs.
