Breakfast?

I was just wondering what everyone feeds their babies for breakfast. She used to eat the rice cereal or oatmeal with breast milk and a fruit but now gags with it! I was going to try like a strawberry bannana yogurt. I have tried vanilla yogurt and peach and she didn't like it. She's very picky eater. Any suggestions?

Re: Breakfast?

  • Reese eats a HUGE bowl of Cheerios. (Well, one of the munchkin bowls.) My MIL who watches her, makes cheerios for herself for breakfast every morning, and she scoops a good portion of the cheerios out (after she puts the milk in-so they are soggier for Reese.) Honestly if we give her anything else for breakfast, she refuses it--she loves Cheerios! Lunch and Dinner she is better with.

  • He never liked cereal. We do plain or vanilla (my store doesn't always carry the same stonyfield flavors) mixed with fruits--either black, blue or raspberries. It's usually about 1-2 tbs of yogurt and quite a few berries about a handful? Sometimes he'll have a piece of toast with some colby-jack pieces, some times some waffles with fruit. I hear many kids like eggs, I haven't tried it since I used to have an intolerance, our doc recommended to wait until he's one.

My suggestion just try different things and see what sticks. Try real pieces of fruit, some toast, you can even make french toast just hold the syrup. Yogurt with real fruit has been a great success with us!

  • He usually eats plain yogurt with fruit puree. He also will eat some toast, blueberries, bananas, applesauce, and pancakes. He loves pancakes!

This morning he had a waffle and a whole banana.

  • He eats anything.. weekdays, it's usually baby whole grain cereal with banana or toast with fruit puree or very thin layer of peanut butter (our doctor told us to go ahead at 9months and all is good so far).  Today, I made real adult oatmeal with apple and cinnamon and he loved it.  Weekends, we usually go out for breakfast, so he eats off of my plate.... eggs, toast, cottage cheese, or any fruit.

  • We've been doing bananas and cereal and sometimes scrambled eggs and pancakes. The oatmeal/rice cereal is the ONLY thing she's still taking with a spoon. Everything else she needs to self feed. *sigh*

  • We do toast with fruit puree or peanut butter,   scrambled eggs,  cheerios and bananas, french toast,  muffins and pancakes.  He LOVES pancakes.  I usually make a big batch on Sunday and put the left overs in the freezer then during the week I will just pull a couple pancakes out and put them in the toaster oven for a couple of minutes to defrost/toast.

  • I'm gonna have to go with all of the above (except no peanut butter here yet).  She loves all kinds of breakfast foods...

Her favorite is oatmeal with half a banana mushed up in it, mixed with a little molasses.  It's like crack for babies.

  • Thank you everyone for your comments! I will start trying all of these and see what she likes. I tried brown sugar oatmeal and she was ok with it. She's just so picky! She got that from her dad!! I'm thinking she will definitely like pancakes and she likes bread so I bet she would like the toast! She loves bananas so maybe I'll try to put that in her oatmeal! Thank you all again!!
