Is the K'Tan easy on your back?

I'd like a wrap-type carrier for when LO is small, and since he's due in July it will be hot during those tiny months. So I've been planning on a K'Tan Breeze since it sounds like it's more breathable, rather than a Moby (which is what I wanted before).

I have shoulder pain sometimes though - is the K'Tan comfortable? Or can you recommend another wrap that's good for hot weather? I do want to get one that distributes weight on both shoulders rather than a sling.

Thanks! :)

ETA: I already have an Ergo for later, but would like a wrap for when baby is tiny.

Just so you know... k'tans are not wraps. They are similar, but they are "pretied" basically. A Bali Breeze may work for you, as well.

Yeah I know, I just wasn't sure what else to call it :P I did look at the Bali Breeze briefly and will check it out again. Thanks!

  • Since you are open to wrapping, but just not the hot jersey fabric of the Moby, what about a woven wrap? I wore a 100% cotton one all last summer, but I have tried cotton and linen, as well. Wraps are breathable and VERY supportive. The K'Tan is stretchy like a Moby and stretchy wraps aren't great for people with pain. The snug supportiveness of a woven wrap is the best, IMO.
  • I use a baby k'tan to lug around my 18 lb 4 month old and it is not painful at all.  We use the forward facing hold and he loves it.  When the material starts to get too stretched out I just toss it in the washer and then dry it and it's back to normal.  I would say we use the baby k'tan 3 or more times a week.  I used it in the cradle position when DS was smaller and no back pain then either.
