2nd Trimester

Movement question

First off I know every pregnancy is different...

My first I felt movement at 15 weeks and she never stopped. She was literally a wild child in there. This time I felt movement at 14 weeks and had been feeling little pokes here and there everyday. I haven't felt movement in exactly a week now. Last Tuesday I had horrible cramping which was period like cramping, but I thought maybe it was just gas. Sunday I realized I hadn't felt the baby since then so I went get checked out. Heartbeat was 140 and pelvic exam revealed cervix was still closed.

I STILL haven't felt movement. My next dr's appt is next Tuesday.

What would you all do and have any of you experienced this??

Re: Movement question

  • Do you have an anterior placenta?  It could be muffling the baby's movements.  This is my second...my uterus was actually flipped upside down and backwards after I had my DD.  So at the start of this pregnancy, my placenta was in the back.  I too felt flutters early -- like 14 weeks...then nothing.  My 17 wk u/s revealed my uterus flipped back so now my placenta is anterior.  I do feel a lot of movement now but it isn't consistent.  Some days I feel full on kicks...other days just sligth movements.  I think they are still small enough to get into spots we can't feel.  Give it time and the movement will be more consistent.

  • This is my 2nd and I still rarely feel movement.  Do you have anyone w/ a home doppler?  If not, pop into the dr office and see if you can just do a doppler check.  My ob says if I'm EVER worried to just come in.

  • I felt movement really early with my son. This time around I have an anterior placenta and I don't feel much. I will feel some flutters every once in a while. My Ob told me it was normal and try not to worry. :) I know that is easier said then done.

  • Your little one might have changed positions.  I felt movement about 17 weeks with my little guy, and he would change positions on me and I wouldn't feel him for a few days.  They're still pretty tiny at 15 weeks, I wouldn't worry.
