losing weight while BFing

I'm doing WW to help lose the pregnancy weight and I'm doing well so far - right now I'm 8.5 lbs away from my pre-pregnancy weight, which means that hopefully I'll be at my pre-PG weight within 1-2 months. ?My problem is that it's distributed totally differently. ?I heard that about 10 lbs equals a pants size, so that should mean I'm one size away from my pre-PG size, but I'm three sizes away. ?It makes me wonder if I'll be anywhere close to fitting into my pre-PG clothes even after I hit my pre-PG weight, or if I'll have to keep going. ?With #1 I was lazy and didn't start WW until after she was a year old and I was finished BFing, and the weight came off normally. ?So I'm wondering if the BFing is making it come off differently, or if it's just losing weight so close to giving birth that's making the difference. ?It's just kind of disheartening to still be in my maternity pants, because not even my one-size-up pants fit. ?

  • I think you should relax.  You just had a baby!  It takes a while for everything to get back into the place it used to be.  I think it took 4 months or so for me to fit into my jeans after baby #1.  I'm sure it gets a little more difficult the more babies you have.  You're doing a great job losing weight, so try not to get discouraged.  Maybe it would make you feel better to buy bigger sized non maternity pants so you don't have to wear maternity any more.  Keep up the good work!

  • I Bfed and ate very healthy. Even with that I didn't see any sort of body changes until around 6 mo pp. Then from 6-9 mo my body FINALLY went back to normal and I was back in pp clothes. It really wasn't that I lost a ton of weight. I think things just went back to the way they were. So my advice is to relax. Keep eating healthy, but I really believe in the 9 months on and 9 months off theory.

  • Honestly, I was back to my pre-pg weight at 6 weeks pp with DD#1 and about 10 lbs lighter with DD#2 (I didn't gain enough at all with her and that was a big concern), but it took forever for my waist to go back to size.  I think it was at least 3 or 4 months before I could fit into my clothes again.  It's not the weight.  It's the distribution, like you said.  Give it another few months to redistribute properly and then start worrying about it.
