Hi!! I was gifted with about 17 BG 3.0 dipes this past weekend. I'm super excited because while I have a NB stash, I was holding off on buying OS. These will at least help with the transition. The only thing is that all of the aplix needs to be replaced. I do not own a sewing machine, nor am I capable of doing this by hand. By chance has anyone taken their CDs to a seamstress or tailor to have the aplix/velcro replaced? Do you recall how costly it was? TIA!
Re: Replacing aplix/velcro
I'm in the process... I found someone on CL that does sewing for $12/hour and bought some hook tape for about $6 shipped. She estimates she can do 4-6 in an hour.
Or you could have them snap converted instead, which might be faster/cheaper overall.

I'm replacing the aplix on all my used BGs right now. You can reduce the cost of taking them to a tailor/seamstress if you remove the aplix yourself first, which is a bit time consuming. All you need is a seam ripper that you can purchase at any fabric store for a couple of dollars. All you do is put the pointy end under a thread and cut it, then repeat over and over again. I had 30 diapers to do so I did them over two nights while I watched TV.
I'm a hobby sewer but if I were to do this for someone I'd charge about $2/diaper to sew and another $1-2/diaper to remove the aplix.
