Saving Bonds online

i know starting this year you can no longer go into a bank and purchase savings bond and now have to do it online. i went to the website and it just seems to much of a hassle.  Has anyone done this yet? Open an account online and purchase bonds?

My dad used to buy savings bonds as birthday gifts for my boys. He and my mom had a difficult time trying to figure it out online. I have not tried myself, but they were disappointed you can't go into a bank anymore.

 my parents did the same thing. My mom called me to try and figure it out so she can continue to buy, but when i went online and tried opening an account it asked for my bank info.

My MIL also has bought bonds for DD each month since she was born and was disappointed about the change.  We are going to open an ING savings account for DD instead and MIL will be contributing there instead.
