NBR: Bathing Suit Recs

I'm 26 and have worn bikinis since I moved out of the house and mom couldn't tell me "no" anymore. Wink But now that I'm a wife and step-mom, DH wants me to tone it down a little (and I see his point). So I'm in the market for a tankini. The problem is, I'm a 36D (not fake, thank you very much!) so I need something with underwire and pads and everything. Everythingbutwater doesn't have much selection and Victoria's Secret has cute stuff but not much coverage! I want a cute age-appropriate suit but don't want to be falling out of it!

Any recs? I'm not opposed to ordering online! (ugh! I love swuimsuit shopping-NOT!)

I'm no help but I will say that I think you have some years before you have to trade in the bikini Wink

    Agreed!

My SDs usually have luck with swimsuits at Macys. SD16 is a 34D but a size 6 and they always have something that fits her properly and she thinks is cute.

  • In all honesty I would tell him to stuff it. At 26 you are certainly still allowed to show off. But if you dont want to do that you could check ebay for monokinis, I've found them to be a great alternative and actually much more comfortable.

Your DH has no point!  unless you are sporting a thong bikini, I really see no harm in wearing a bikini in front of kids. I am 39 and have 2 kids, and wear a bikini.  It should just be about what YOU are comfortable in.

Anyway, are you looking to buy online?  I got a catalog in the mail the other day and Athleta has some cute stuff that comes is bra sizes and they are more modest, more for the sporty type.  I've found good stuff at Macy's as well, they have a nice selection.  I usually have to buy the tops in my bra size, as I am larger on top as well.

  • Wear what YOU are comfortable in. I love Unique Vibtage for swimsuits. They have funky retro style bikinis (that my fat ass will never be able to wear) that are a bit more covering than modern style bikinis but that are super fun. I have a great one piece from them that is sassy, cute and appropriate for any situation.

Im 26, and have lost almost all my baby weight. You bet your ass I'll be out in my bikini even though I'm a mom of 2 and a sm of a 6 yr old. I think your H needs a reality check, and you need to not be a doormat. If you want to wear a bikini, wear one.

Thanks a lot! I had never been to Unique Vintage before. Now I have a wish list of 3 swimsuits, 10 dresses, and 2 shoes that I don't have the extra money for right now. How an I going to narrow this down to one or two items???
