I know how wonderful wool is, my first question is what kinds of covers are you buying and where...has anyone tried hand knitted wool? Did it work the same?
I like sustainable babyish (but her quality control and customer service is all over the place at them moment), wild child woolies, upcycled wool from woolybottoms, and a variety of hand knit items from various places that I've bought on the cheap.
Hand knitted wool works the same as any other wool. I, personally, like interlock wool the best because it's sturdier.
Fleece works about the same but is more prone to compression leaks, and has to be washed after every use.
The other thing about fleece soakers: They don't stretch at much, so they're harder to put on. At least the ones I had -- Monster Fluff Studio. They were super cute and functional though.
Interlock: WCW or Rainbow Waters (crazypants!) Interlock is definitely more durable and often what I put DS in if we're outside (since it's easier to wash/scrub.)
Handknit wool works great - it works the same provided it's well lanolized. You just have to be careful scrubbing it as it can felt. Handknit is also nice because you can get thicker yarn weights for nighttime/winter or thinner for summer/shorties/daytime use.
Sbish wool, as Pixy mentioned, is amazing, but the sizing and customer service/wait times leave something to be desired.
