Tell me about your LO's pillow pet

Does it get lumpy?

I bought DS an off-brand Lightning McQueen for his 3rd birthday, and a year later it is super lumpy.  To the point that the middle where he puts his head basically has no filling, the stuffing seems to have all migrated to the edges of the pillow.

Now that Pillow Pet brand makes Lightnight McQueen, I am thinking of buying it for his 4th birthday.  It seems to be a much better quality, but I'm wondering if it actually is, so I would love some input.

Also, has anyone run theirs through the washing machine?  I have.  Maybe that's why the stuffing has gotten so lumpy...

  • Our Pillow Pet has been washed, used fairly frequently and, no, it is not lumpy. I still don't think they're worth the price, but DD does like hers and it is handy that they're washable.

My kids sleep with their pillow pets every night (we got them over a year ago)... they are washed often too! We have not had any problems at all, and I am glad we got the pillow pet brand (they bring them for sleepovers too, especially if they need a pillow). Originally I picked up cheap mones, and glad I returned those.

  • J's had her Dollar Store "pillow pet" my cheap SMIL bought her for a year now and it's not lumpy. I wash on gentle and air dry it.

  • DD1 got the ladybug pillowpet as a gift about a year or so ago.

I've washed it a few times, and although it's extra-poofy for a few days until it gets squished/laid on a bit, it definitely hasn't gotten lumpy. We also never fold it in half and fasten it so it's a "pet," maybe that helps the stuffing not to migrate?

I guess it's "quality" for as much as you can say that about a stuffed animal pillow. I still think they're overpriced :). But I will say that hers has washed up nicely, with zero fading, and is still super-soft and plump.

  • DS sleeps on all three of his every night, I believe they are pillow pet brand (all were gifts) and they have been washed/dried many times and are still holding up!
  • In our experience, brand does make a difference with these things.  My mom bought DD an off-brand elephant pillow.  It got really lumpy and the fur got all matted after only a month or two.  She now has the Pillow Pet lightning mcqueen and it's still holding up really well.  She sleeps with it every night, so we wash it at least every 1-2 weeks and it hasn't changed at all.

  • Nope- not lumpy at all and it has been through the wash.  We have had one for a year and it looks like it did when we bought it.
