I like rockin green and i use the homemade eff detergent.
I've tried Vaska but I struggle with liquids and sudsing, between a water softener and a FL.
To my boys: I will love you for you Not for what you have done or what you will become I will love you for you I will give you the love The love that you never knew
What to avoid - detergents with additives, enzymes, dyes, perfumes.
What I prefer - I loved Rockin Green, but after 6 months it stopped doing the job and was getting the stinkies every time. Switched to Country Save and couldn't be happier. But detergent choice is very personal.
I rotate between ECOS free and clear, Tide Powder and Rockin Green.
You don't need to make it that complicated - I just like to try out different things.
Married 08.06 Started TTC 05.08 Me: Stage II endo, borderline high FSH DH: perfect 1 lap, 5 IUIs = 4 BFNs and 1 c/p 2 IVFs, 2 FETs = 1 BFN, 1 c/p, 1 ectopic and finally a sticky BFP in May 2011!
I use Tiny bubbles because it is super cheap at Costco.com - it works out to be something like .1667 cents per load (60 loads a box - 6 boxes for $60), whereas Rockin green is .33 cents a load (14.95 at Kellys closet for the 45/90 loads per box) the 90 loads per box for the front loader (1 tablespoon) people is obviously the same cost as tiny bubbles
If the house ain't burned down and the baby's fed it was a successful day.
We have used Nellies for a long time and I have turned a lot of people on to it. It is fantastic for everything!
Soon to be Big Sister Eowyn - DOB February 2012

We use Planet detergent, you can get it at Kroger (not sure if that's a nationwide grocery chain or not?).
At first I thought any "free & clear" baby detergent should be fine, but they still contain brighteners that you should avoid.
I use Dropps dye/scent free.
Really, it's up to what type of water you have, and your wash routine. Don't get stuck on one detergent. If it doesn't work, you can always change.
