Does anyone have Chronic Endometritis?

Here is my background (can't get it to post in my signature).....got pregnant with my now 3.5 year old son right away and had a dream pregnancy. Was unable to get pregnant again after his birth and after tests, found that scar tissue was wrapped around one of my tubes. We tried medications, IUI's and finally IVF, which was successful for us and I was pregnant with twins. Sadly, I went into preterm labor at 18 weeks and lost our son and daughter. The drs all told me it was a fluke. I went back to my RE and he found that I had a lot of scar tissue (a result from the twin pregnancy) and had a hysteroscopy a few weeks ago. The results from pathology show that I have Chronic Edometritis.

I am a bit shocked. As if it wasn't difficult enough for us to get pregnant, now it seems that keeping a pregnancy is an issue. I was so upset at my appointment today that I feel like I wasn't even 100% "there".

Does anyone here have it? What has it meant for your TTC journey?

Re: Does anyone have Chronic Endometritis?

  • I had always suspected I had endometriosis after living the last 2 years with this wierd pain over my right ovary. On tuesday, I was finally diagnosed with it after my fertility specialist did a laproscopy and found a few spots of it. He was able to cauterize most of it, and he says ( in his words) I'm good to go now. So if you haven't yet had a laproscopy, I'm surprised because I was told that surgery was the only way to positively diagnose endo. And I know depending on how bad it is, they can remove it, but I think it still comes back after like a few years or something. I'm still learning quite a bit tho, I have to have my follow up appt. in a few weeks, when we will be talking about IUI with donor sperm, so we shall see. Sorry I can't be more helpful, thats just my experience so far... good luck!! Remember, nothing is ever impossible!!!

  • After 4 failed IUI's and 2 failed IVF's I decided to switch RE's. One of the first things my new RE did was a biopsy - which showed i had chronic endometritis.  My RE basically said it causes inflammation in my uterus and chances are slim for an embryo to survive.  So we did a hysteroscopy a few months ago so i am hoping everything is clear now because I am just starting my stims for IVF#3.  I am praying and hoping this did the trick. GL to you!

To the bolded. I have endo and the only way to confirm from my symptoms was my lap. It can only be "removed" through a laprascopy and it you are trying to get pregnant this is a must for any RE. The HSG is only to look at your tubes and can't diagnosis endo. GL to you!

For what it is worth I think you fit in the secondary infertility category (they have their own board). None if us have any children from "natural" methods and they may be able to provide more insight!
