New here, need advice

I'm thinking about doing cloth diapers with my second baby (due in about 6 weeks). What would all of you cloth-diapering mamas recommend? I didn't do it with DS, so any info you can give would help; brands, cleaning tips, etc. Thanks!

First, I would check the FAQs at the top of the board, get more familiar with CDs and maybe ask some specific questions There's way too much info to fit in a post here.

 As for brand recommendations, different diapers work for different babies so  it's hard to know what will fit your baby until you try some. I would definitely consider a cloth diaper trial, or get a good mixed stash for when baby arrives; then whichever brand works best you can purchase more of.

I would recommend doing prefolds and covers during the newborn stage.  About 30 prefolds and 6 covers should be enough for the newborn stage.  You can use the prefolds later for other things, like inserts for other diapers or burp cloths.

After that, my preference is for one size diapers because he can wear them until potty training.  But you may be happier with a different kind of diaper.  Checking out the FAQ can give you an idea of what different kinds there are out there, but a diaper trial can let you ty them out first hand.  You may also want to see if there is a baby boutique near you that sells cloth diapers.
