So I found a name I love, and my husband doesn't like it!!

We are expecting DC #3 in 2 weeks, and I finally came up with a name that I love!  I decided I liked the name Claire Nichole.  Claire was my great-grandmother's name, and my grandmother's maiden name was Nichols.  So it's a take on a family name.

My husband doesn't like Claire --- how do I convince him it's "the one?"   I sort of feel that he picked the names for our first 2, so I should be able to just say this is what I like, this is what it is (lol) but I want him to like it as well!!

Watch wedding crashers maybe? the girl is named claire and I fell in love with the name after watching that movie. silly, i know. 

I love how her dad called her "claire bear''

maybe he'll start liking it more if he watches the movie?

Hard to say...esp. if he is REALLY against it. But if he has had more input for #1 AND #2, I would mention that subtly, and see if he can find a way to grow to like it....like a cute nn could be Claire-bell:)  Or something like that which is sweet (I remember that nn from WEdding Crashers, sorry..but I still like it!...LOL).

Or if anything, maybe you can switch it to Nichole Claire:)  NN would be Nikki:)

If he doesn't like it, he doesn't like it. Sorry, you have to find a name you can at least agree on.

It's not "unfair" that he chose the last name; you both agreed on it, and you both liked it, so it's perfectly fair.

Keep looking. You'll find a name you both like.

I love family names. Maybe if you express to him how much it would mean to you to use a family name he would bend. It's worth a try!

I definitely think he should have a say. I wouldn't pick a name my DH wasn't a fan of, especially if he helped with the first two kids - clearly he likes to have a say in the name. Maybe let him pick the MN or use Claire as the MN and find a FN the two of you both like.

I agree.  I had to trash a ton of names I loved because DH didn't feel the same.  I think it's pretty important for a child to have a name that both parents at least like!

All you can do is explain to him why you like it and hope for the best. Good luck!

On a side note, my niece is named Claire. My sister and I (her aunts) call her Claire Bear, she is getting ready for pre-school so her mother has been trying to teach her basic things like her full name. She fully insists that her name is Claire Bear Silly (her last name does kind of sound like Silly) I think her teachers are going to like that but have a difficult time convincing her otherwise, ha!
