Baby Names

Graciela

I am a big fan of the name Grace, but DH felt it was too short, so he suggested Graciela.  I had actually never heard of this name, but after looking it up it appears that it is relatively well known.  Have any of you heard of it before?  What do you think?  I don't want to name her something that will get her tortured in school...

Re: Graciela

  • I think it is cute, and have heard it before.  Graciella is a nice spelling, too (I'm a big fan of "ella" names like Annabella, Isabella, etc)...and you can call her Grace, Gracie, or Ella:)
  • I hate it. Sorry.

  • I love graciela! i believe it is a spanish name, but i know a few italian ladies with this name.

i think it is a beautiful alternative to grace

  • I have heard this name before.  I think it's really pretty.  I personally would never use it though, because we have a super Irish last name and I think that would be a little weird...
  • I don't like the name Grace in general but I prefer it to Graciela. Grace is more timeless & pretty Graciela sounds made up.

  • Graciela is ok, but I really like Graziette (I'm 99% sure it's origin is Portuguese) it's pronounced Grah-zee-ette or Gracie-ette

I would spell it Graciella...and even then, I'm really not a fan.

This.  Plus, with the spelling Graciela, I keep wanting to pronounce it Gracie - lah.

  • Graciela Daniele is a famous choreopgrapher on Broadway.  She was born in Argentina.  It is one of my "guilty pleasure" names.

  • i really like it.  i'm not a fan of names on the top 10 list so not only is it a little different but it's also very beautiful.  if you still like grace, you can always call her that (or gracie) for short.  sounds like a good compromise for you and your hubby.
  • I believe this is a real name; it has an Italian or Spanish sound to it, but it still sounds made up, like you are trying to find a long name for Grace.

  • It's a Spanish name, as far as I know. If you're pronouncing it Grah-ciela, I like it. If you're going to pronounce it Gracie-ella, then I kind of hate it. I don't love the idea of using a name from a different culture if it won't be pronounced correctly, but that may just be my pet peeve.
