I was watching videos on the best folds for prefolds/covers. Does this actually work? (you just tri-fold the diaper and stick it into a cover?) would this work well with newborns?
I used to be anti-prefolds/fitteds, but if it's this easy, than I am gonna jump on board!
Also, what covers are best for newborns?
Re: Pad fold?
I still haven't *actually* tried it yet, but that is our plan. I bought newborn prefolds and plan to just do the standard trifold and place it in the cover. I went with Thirsties covers because they have gussets (and they're cheap). I've heard they tend to wear quickly, but since we only plan to use for newborn stage I don't anticipate a problem. I will admit, I do have snappis just in case it doesn't work as well as I like. But newborns tend to stay stationary so I'm hoping that means the pad stays in place.
Hope this helps
I do the tri fold every now and then. It's great for absorbing a lot of pee. The draw back for me is that poop tends to get on the cover every time they go. (which for a newborn is like every 5 minutes lol) Also, the trifold is bulkier than the newspaper fold.
I wasn't hot on prefolds and covers at first either but ended up loving them for my newborn before she grew into her pockets.
I LOVED my thirsties and rumparooz covers.
