Creative ideas on how to tell family.

How did you all share the news of your pregnancy with family? Did you do it creatively, in person or just a phone call? I am trying to think of creative ways to tell our families but I'm not sure what to do.

For our parents we bought each a picture frame that said grand kids on it. This is the first grand child for both sets. I threw together sorta like a scrapbook page with no pictures and put it in the frame. Had baby stickers and pink and blue paper and in the center i wrote Picture due in November! We wrapped them and went over to each house and gave them. My mom freaked out and bounced up and down lol it was the perfect way to say it lol.

We went to my folks house for dinner, which we do like once a week. I usually will make a dessert or pick up a cake on the way over. We got a cake and had the bakery write "Congratulations Grandma and Grandpa!" on it. When they opened the box and they both almost fainted. When I showed them the ultrasound pictures my dad started crying. It was really sweet.

I printed this poem on cute scrapbook paper and framed it in a 4x6 frame. Watching their expression as they read it was priceless!

I do not have a face to see,
Or put inside a frame.
I do not have soft cheeks to kiss.
I don't yet have a name.

Not yet can you hold my tiny hands,
Nor whisper in my ear.
It's still too soon to sing a song,
Or cuddle me so near.

But all that will change come this October;
When they say I am due.
I am your newest grandchild;
And I can't wait until I meet you!

All I ask between now and then
Is your love for me to grow.
I promise I'll be worth the wait;
Just think of all the joy we'll know!

So as you're waiting patiently,
Please pray lots of prayers for me.
I cannot wait to be a part
Of this wonderful family!

We put together an Imovie slideshow for my MIL; it starts with our baby pictures, goes to our wedding, then the sonogram picture.  For my mom, I ordered a Grandma tshirt that says how many grandchildren she'll have come September.

We had to tell both of our parents on Skype, which made for an interesting reveal.  With our parents, we told them that we'd made a really expensive decision, and we wanted their advice on it, and then held up a onesie and asked, "Do you think this will fit your grandchild?"  With my sister, I texted her a picture of our dog weaing a "Big Brother" T-shirt.

omg this made me cry. Damn pg hormones lol.

I have the same frame that pp mentioned that says grandkids on it. I am thinking about putting pictures of my pee stick in it, maybe one that says Coming soon: November 2012 and if I have one, the sono pic. We haven't told yet because I'm only 4w5d.

ETA: this will be the first on all sides too.

I am thinking about telling the family around Easter.. my plan is to get everyone together for a family photo on a timed camera... and say "One, Two, Three- Haily's Preggers"

with LO we told all family on Easter.

MIL FIL after church we were at breakfast I  had a grandparents magazine and told MIL there was a really neat activity in there she would like to do with my nieces. When she opened it there was a picture of ultrasound. It took her a minute to catch on but then she screamed.

My family we handed out or wedding thank yous(yes 4 months after wedding) on the back it said we were pregnant. As people were opening we gave my parents a grandparents frame with ultrasound inside.

M/C baby in July we did he big sister shirt.

This time we asked my parents if they could babysit November 4th. I plan ahead a lot so they didn't really find that strange. My Mom said ok I will just mark it down and I said great you can't back out because I will be giving birth!

We just told my brother SIL and grandparents this morning at breakfast with big sister shirt. We are telling IL's tonight by letting LO say she is going to be a big sister.

Bought a tshirt tthat says 

  I know something  You don't know...

and on the back says " I'm going to be a big brother. ".    I'm going to put it on my son around April

We took announcement photos!  It was super fun!  If you check out my profile, I posted several.  Our families LOVED them!  And we haven't put it out on Facebook just yet, but we will post those to tell some others.  My parents live out of state, and so we did FaceTime with them, and talked for a while about whatever then mentioned we had some photos taken and emailed them.  They looked at them while still on FaceTime and were like "Is this?  Are you?...." and then tears of joy.  It was great!  Have fun sharing your awesome news!!!!

we bought my 5 year old a shirt that said big sister and we are going to visit them this weekend kinda let "big sister" walk in with her new shirt and see if nanna pays attention im sure my DD will make sure nanna sees it
