Miscarriage/Pregnancy Loss

Please help, getting worried (graphic)

I had a suction D&C on Wednesday. Since then, no bleeding, no cramping, and passing a minimal amount of debris (tissue that looks like coffee grounds). The last day or so I've felt like something's been "stuck" and I was going to pass a clot, but nothing comes out. I just put my hands just barely inside my vagina and can feel a massive piece of tissue that I believe is stuck. Is this normal? Will it come out on it's own, do I need to try and remove it (I'm afraid other tissue is getting backed up because of it and I might get an infection), or call my doc and go in to have them remove it? I'm shaken up, and beyond grossed out...has this happened to anyone else?

  • Don't try and remove it and no more touching your hoo-ha at all. If there is something stuck then likely you're cervix is still open, meaning you're extra susceptible to infections.

I have absolutely no experience with this but I suspect it's probably ok to even wait until Monday to see a doctor.

one question....not trying to be funny....how often do you check inside, like how familiar with the inside of it are you? Is it possible you're feeling something else that's normal....a broken hymen can feel like loose tissue.

Obviously, I'm no doctor and it's not my own hoo-ha so it's much easier to say don't freak out! But don't freak out! It's going to be okay even if it is stuck tissue. Call your doctor tomorrow and just see what they recommend. (((hugs))))

  • I got a call back from the on call OB, she agrees that there's a mass of tissue stuck, but obviously cannot tell over the phone if it's still coming from the uterus or cervix, or if it's made it's way down the canal and is stuck. She recommended going to the ER to have it removed and to see if there is additional tissue remaining in the uterus that needs to be removed. But she said I could try and wait until Monday if I did not have a fever but would have to come in ASAP. Ugh. I feel like this is never going to end.

  • Call your doc ASAP

Drink lots of fluids and massage your ab's really well. This will help loosen anything up. You should do it several times an hour.

    Good luck

Oh no, so sorry you are going through this. I felt something similar on day 3 after D&C. I felt a strange sensation in the vaginal area so I went to the bathroom. I beared down and urinated and it was enough to get the dry clot to come out. I hope yours comes out on its own. But glad you got a response from your doctor. Keep us posted!

I'm so sorry that this is happening....nothing is worse then one more physical part of the m/c when all you want to do is just be done. I think, if I were you, I would go to the ER and have someone look at it and remove it.....I don't think I would be able to wait.

I hope that, if you didn't already go, that it passes on it's own. ((HUGS)) to you and I hope this ends soon.

  • Thanks everyone. I decided to sleep on it and I'm going to wait to see my OB tomorrow (unless I get symptoms of an infection). I was hoping it would pass on its own, or that maybe I was scared and overreacting...but the tissue is still there. I'm really hoping it's easy to remove and that it's just stuck in the canal and not still coming from the uterus. I had my first kind-of okay day yesterday until all this happened, than I was really shaken up and frustrated because I just want to move on. Thanks again for your concern, I'll update on how my appointment goes.

Hang in there! This may be TMI but hopefully you have to have a bowel movement soon and maybe with the added pressure it comes out. If what is stuck is as dry as mine was, the only way it was going to come out was with a little bearing down or if not, removal by doctor.
