Anyone on here EBF??

How have you been doing diets? Hard core workouts? Has your supply suffered at all? Any tips?

Re: Anyone on here EBF??

  • I did with DD1 and plan to with DD2. With DD1, I started Insanity at about 5 months PP with no problems. Make sure you are getting enough healthy calories and drinking tons of water if you plan to go hard core. If your supply goes down, try adding more calories (not junk food, though) and more water.  Also, give the girls plenty of support (I wore 3 sports bras), and be aware that LO may not like the taste of salty nipples, so wipe or rinse them before nursing if it's a problem.

I definitely plan to go all out workout wise ASAP with this one.

  • I am going to start working out tomorrow. I ordered 10 minute trainer (Post Below), and I also have a treadmill and bike at home that I'll do 20-30 min per day to start off. I am already below pp weight (just by about 1 lb), but I would like to lose an additional 15 or so. EBF is really important to me and I hope to make it to 6 months at least, and so is losing the weight. So I am going to work really hard at maintaining my supply AND losing weight. :)

  • I am currently EBF and eating healthy but haven't been cleared for exercise yet. I intend to go right back to my routine of spin, swimming, walking, running, weights and yoga as soon as possible, but I'll be monitoring my supply and increasing my fruit, veg, lean protein and complex carb intake if I notice a supply issue.

  • Ditto for everything else said but I alway add in a 2nd rest day (Wed/Sunday) instead of my typical Sunday rest day when I'm nursing.

Ten Minute Trainer is a great start! I'm a Beachbody freak and I'm currently doing a hybrid of ChaLEAN Extreme and Turbo Jam.

  • I have run at least 15 miles per week (up to 35) along with strength training since 4 weeks postpartum and have never really had any supply issues.  I do notice temporary dips if I don't drink enough water, but as long as I am keeping my hydration up and getting enough calories, I haven't personally had any problems.

  • I EBF my first baby through 6 months when we started rice cereal.  He never had any formula and I BF for a little over 13 months.  Around 3 months PP, I was running about 25 miles a week, cross training, and lifting.  I trained for lots of races, including a 1/2 marathon, before my baby was a year old.  I never had supply issues.  I wanted to lose the baby weight pretty fast and was at my pp weight through diet and exercise about 3 month pp.  Again, no supply issues.

  • I EBF and my DD2 is almost 10 months. I have been working out for months, but HARD in the last 2-3 months. No supply issues. I drink a ton of water, which helps so much. I don't notice any supply dips, and DD2 never refuses to feed. Basically, no issues here! :)

I do wear 2 bras though - I have 36DD and need the support.

  • I BF (dd is 6 months old so she has some solids, but 95% of her nutrition comes from BFing).  I go to stroller strides most mornings, jog and ride a bicycle a few times a week with my husband.  I also do WW (the BFing plan).  I had a small drop in supply when my daughter hit a 6 month growth spurt and I wasn't eating enough, but once I ate a little more it came back.  That said, I've NEVER had supply issues (knock on wood) - and I do everything wrong - I take sudafed, I take regular BC, I diet, and I exercise a lot.  Drink a lot of water and just be cognizant of it - if you have a dip, slow down a little or add more calories.
