I'm not a big party-type person. We'll probably make a cake, and that's about it other than presents, which you didn't include in your budget. Maybe a cute hat for pictures...
I know other people go all out with themes and stuff, but that's NMS.

This exactly.
I am pretty good at making cakes, so my whole budget will be probably $25.

IMHO you can still throw a nice party (theme or color coordinated) within a budget. His won't be a big bash, just a cook-out with the fam and some friends but I'm still doing a theme. I haven't set a budget yet but I'm guessing it'll be around $100, as far as a present not sure yet, he will get lots of stuff and just as with xmas I don't think 1 year olds grap the concept of this gift is from grandma, this one from mom and dad. DH talked about starting his 529 so maybe that'll be our gift to him.
It depends on how many people you're having and how lavish you'll get. I haven't set a budget yet, but to me $200 sounds like a good number. I'm having about 20 people and want to serve lunch, so most of the money will go there. Decorations will come in under $20, $10 if I can hold myself back. I want to over budget too, I hosted Christmas at my house this year and it cost a lot more than we had anticipated!

Most of our money will be spent on feeding everyone. My immediate family is 24 people (I have 5 siblings with spouses/12 children and the parental units), than DH's family (5) and a few close friends (6).
I am so busy with work that I am thinking of just having it catered this year ~ I can't even think about trying to cook that much food. Otherwise a cake big enough for everyone and a few streamers/ballons with a party hat.
oh, and a cute, fluffy dress
ETA: I forget to add my 3 oldest nieces boyfriends ~ they are in their 20's and have been dating for a few years now ~ definately involved in all the family gatherings. *sigh*, I can't imagine what a friend party will be like...
I'd say 90% of our budget will be on food & drink for our friends. We're just going to host a cookout the Sunday of Memorial Day weekend and have an open house of sorts. Nothing very formal. Hopefully we can keep it under 75 bucks total.

I want to have a really nice party. I booked a place and will invite alot of kids (about 15 to 20). I love Birthdayexpress.com but don't want to pay $100 for decorations - I think I'm going to scale back on the decorations some.. But she will definitely have a Princess themed party (even scaling back).
