Another Umbrella Stroller Question...

Just wondering how other moms get around in the city by themselves.  I have a big stroller (iCandy) which I love but its not practical when i'm just jumping in a cab and heading to a friends house.  I don't like using the Bjorn because once I arrive at my location, I have nowhere to put my son down.   

How do you other mom's do it?  Is an umbrella stroller the answer?  Any help would be great.  Thanks.

We have the Bugaboo and Maclaren. I usually walk everywhere...so usually use the Bugaboo. But if I know I will be taking the train and cab I'll take the Maclaren. We vacation about 3times a year so Maclaren has been used alot.
