Double stroller or sit n stand

My DD1 with be about 18 months old when DD2 is born.  We primarly use strollers to go to zoo, mall, and walk around neighborhood.

I have looked at regular double strollers, the strollers that are a sit n stand and have a place for a yonger infant/child, and the ones that do both.

What do you guys recommend? One over the other?  I am pretty sure DD1 will be too little to be in a sit and stand...right?   When do they usually start in a sit and stand and want to walk by themselves?

Thanks guys!  This is overwhelming!

Re: Double stroller or sit n stand

  • DD1 was just shy of 19 months when DD2 was born and we opted to go with a regular double. I wanted something comfortable for both girls when we did an all day trip like the zoo, so that if they got tired they could nap/rest in the stroller. We borrowed a sit and stand when DD1 was 15 months and I was babysitting a newborn and it was fine for short periods of time, but I prefer having a real seat for each of them.

  • I'm probably going to get a double sit n stand.  You can remove the back seat and have the bench.  I don't have confidence my DD will be ready to not use the seat.

  • My 2.5yo still sits in the zoo quite a bit especially if we go to the doctor's office or mall. At the zoo he walks mostly. We have a city select and a double bob. I use the ciety select for indoor stuff. I use the bob for running, the zoo and when we go to disney world. If I didn't run then I'd probably just stick with the city select. It's a great stroller and I love that it's a single or double especially now with #3 coming and both my boys go to school 3 days a week.

  • We used a double stroller.  The selling point for the double over a sit and stand, for me, is that you can strap them both in.  Even now, when they are two and three, I am glad we have a double stroller where we can keep them both contained.  Otherwise, there are days when I would have two toddlers running in opposite directions.  :)
