    Love Josephine - but had been hoping we would talk you into changing the spelling to Joey. Joie is so confusing...

    I like Joie better than Joey and know someone who spells her name this way. Also great name choice. My new little girls name is Josephine Pearl

    joey is easier for people to understand. When I first read joie I thought you mispelled josie. She could go a lifetime hearing that. With Joey there is no misunderstanding.

    There's a reason you felt you had to clarify in your OP. If you didn't, I would have questioned whether it was pronounced like Joey or more like Joy. Spelling in incorrectly doesn't make it cute, it makes it confusing.

    I love Josephine!  Ditto PP about spelling it Joey.  Joie is French is isn't pronounced like Joey, it is like 'zhwa' or 'jhwa' (like in Joie de vivre).  I only mention that because it isn't an uncommon phrase and adds to the confusion (I don't normally nix names because of their usage in other languages).

    Great name. I think Joie may be confusing (it looks like Joy to me). I would go with Joey for a nickname.

    I think Joie looks French. In English it just looks confusing. I'd stick with Joey, too. It's cute.

    This is how I would pronounce it, if I hadn't been told it was Joey.  I like Josephine Mae though!

    Beautiful name. I'll echo the pps who seriously dislike Joie over Joey. Aside from the fact that phonetically it doesn't make a lick sense to pronounce it 'Joey', it's also a very common french word for joy, pronounced 'Ge-Wah'. You're probably going to find people calling her 'Ge-Wah' instead of Joey. Now, joy is a great meaning, however, in some parts of the world, 'fille de joy' ('daughter of joy') is slang for a prostitute.

    However, I would never pronounce Joie as Joey.  I would think it was Joy.

    Why Joey as a NN?  Josie is a more natural choice.  Also I would spell it Joey if you do decide to go that route.

    I love it!  I think Josephine has moved up to the top of my list lately and I love, love, love the Joie nn!  My dad was Joseph who passed when I was 5 years old and I thought it would be nice to name a future daughter after him.  I think Joie Mae is incredibly sweet.  Congrats!

    TTC 10/11. IUI 2/12. BFP 3/8/12. 4/26/12 missed mc. RE consult 5/17/12. IVF #1 ER 7/13/12 53R, 41M ICSIed, 32F, 8 5d, 6 6d blasts - all PGD/frozen. PGD results 1 normal M and 1 normal F, 1 maybe M. FET 9/6, transferred 1 F embie. Beta 9/15 BFN. FET#2 planned for 11/2012 put off until 2013. Surprise BFP 11/21/12!! My son was born on 7/24/13!

    FET 4/28/2015 - Transferred 1 M embie. 5/6/15 BFP!

    BFP #1: 12/2009 m/c 1/2010 BFP #2: 6/2010 m/c 8/2010

    BFP #3: 10/2011 ectopic 11/2011 (right tube removed, learned left tube was probably nonfunctional due to scar tissue from infection after m/c)

    3 failed IUIs, IVF #1: 18R, 12M, 10F, 3 poor quality 5d embryos transferred= BFP #4!!!!!

    Betas: 9dp5dt: 64 ~14dp5dt: 91 (expecting miscarriage, doubling time of 236 hours) ~16dp5dt: 200~18dp5dt: 500

    First Ultrasound at 6w2d revealed two sacs, only one with a heartbeat

    LK arrived after 42 weeks on August 14, 2013! Beautiful, healthy, and happy!

    TTC#2: IVF booked for April 2015

    Surprise BFP#5 February 19, 2015 EDD: November 2, 2015

    Betas: 10dpo: 10, 14dpo: 77, 17dpo: 270

    First Ultrasound at 5w1d showed a miracle UTE baby! And right ovary ovulation to left fallopian tube.

    JD arrived at 38 weeks on October 20, 2015.

    TTC #3: Since October 2017. BFP #6 July 2, 2018 EDD: March 16, 2019 [/spoiler]

    Very pretty name.  I agree that Joie is unecessarily confusing, at least it's a positive word association in French.
