LO never sleeps

How do i improve this? Lo still eats every 3 hrs which is fine. But she will eat for up to an hr. So there is maybe an hr left for me to rest . She will finally stay asleep in her crib at 3am at the earliest will then wake up for feeding accordingly. So i get a total of 3 hrs a night before morning comes. Then she is up and will not sleep for more than 20 min at a time. Unless of course i hold her on my boob which i don't want to do.So is this just a phase or can i do something about it. My LO is 5.5 weeks and feel like other babies this age sleep much better and even through the night... TIA!!

You are not alone... my LO will not sleep unless he is being held. I feed, burp, lay him down he wakes up in under10 min. Then we repeat. He has never slept good on his own. We've tried everything we can think of to no avail. He eats anywhere from every 1 1/2 - 3 hrs. And sometimes wants to stay at the breast for an hr. Not really eating but if i try to remove him he A) wakes up or acts like he wasnt done and starts eating again.

she does this as well! and as we speak she woke up again. Slept in my arms for over an hour I put her in her crib 10 minutes ago and she's done...

My DD is exactly like this as well.  I have a few suggestions based on things that have worked for me...

1. Try giving your baby a bottle of breastmilk (I love the Breastflow bottles by First Years--the nipple is very close to a breast nipple and baby has to really work for the milk).  I pump and try to give DD a bottle at night for her feedings b/c she will eat really well (and quickly!) from the bottle.

2. We follow this schedule for our nighttime feedings if we're breastfeeding and not bottle feeding- wake up, unswaddle, feed from one side for a good half hour, change diaper, re-swaddle, feed from other side until DD drifts off, put back to sleep.

3. She sleeps REALLY well in the Fisher Price Rock n' Play.  I put a "snuzzler" in there too and that seems to make her feel really cozy.  So I'll put her in the RNP with a white noise machine and a pacifier if needed, and she'll give me between 3-5.5 hours of sleep.

I know not everything works for everyone, but hopefully you'll find something in these suggestions that works for you and your family!  Good luck!

This is exactly why we've given up our quest of getting DS to sleep in the crib (for now anyway).  He falls asleep nursing, so I let him sleep on the boob essentially.  The only way I get sleep is with him on top of me with the nursing pillow keeping him from rolling off of my stomach.  I'll wrap my arms around him before I go to sleep, and I know I'm not really getting quality sleep like this.  But it's better than attempting to put him down or hand him off and have to change/feed him to get him back to sleep.  We are attempting to use the crib during daytime naps when it doesn't matter as much that he get a lot of sleep.

Have you tried a swaddle blanket like the halo?  we were having a lot of night waking and then I pulled out the sleep sack.... all of a sudden she is sleeping for a 4 hour stretch at night which means only one middle of the night feeding if I time it right.
