We are expecting baby #2 and I plan on BF. We may have to put baby into daycare relatively early but I forgot when the earliest you should start pumping . I thought it was not recommended before 12 weeks.
My company's maternity leave was 5 weeks but I added PTO b/c I couldn't find a daycare that would take a baby less than 6 weeks. I started pumping at 5 weeks.

I started pumping at 4 days because LO was jaundice and they wanted me to supplement with formula and bottle feed her to get extra liquid in her. I figured I could pump that liquid just as easily. It took some time to get more than an ounce or two, but it didn't effect my ability to feed LO.
Hallelujah, it's a miracle, I have children AND a signature!
Honestly, I would start pumping as soon as you can to store milk.
I waited several weeks and didn't take advantage when my milk came in while I was engorged and LO was sleeping more. I have always had problems since keeping my supply up and have had a hard time keeping up with what LO drinks at daycare.
My hospital had me try to pump the day after Aubrey was born to help get my milk in but it wasn't a real pumping session. I also pumped 6 days after she was born to eliminate some of my engorgement issues that I was having. I didnt actually start pumping to store up milk/get extra for DD to start bottles until she was about 4 weeks old.
