6 days postpartum and in the ER

I have been having crazy swelling in my ankles/feet. Today I started having some chest pain (minor) and slight shortness of breath. I called my OB who said to monitor and let them know if it got worse and mentioned to be cautious of pre-e after birth. I then took my blood pressure and found it to be 140/91. I called OB back and they said head to ER to get checked out. So here I am in the waiting room about 2 hours after arrival. They did an EKG on me right away but was sent back to waiting for results. DH says no news is good news and so waiting this long to hear results must mean everything came back normal. Anyways, no real question here, just asking for your T&Ps that everything is ok. This is the first time I have been away from LO and it is awful (DH is home with her because I did not want her around sick people). I am BFing and they can't give me a place to pump so I am already hurting from engorgement and am worried about this affecting my supply.

  • I'll say a prayer for you, hopefully they figure this out soon.  As for the pumping, will they are least let you go to the bathroom?  I'd be in there hand expressing into a sink, when I let myself get too engorged I end up with mastitis though.  I get pretty desperate when I'm that full with no baby around, I might even just go for it in whatever room they plop me in, just ask them for a bowl (those little kidney shaped ones are always handy).  I might also add that modesty is not a trait that comes easily to me :)

I tried the bathroom but they didn't have a plug for my electric pump, didn't think of hand expressing. I will try that.
