Mine stayed the same (which is why she's a 24lb 9 month old). If she eats a really big dinner at 6pm though, we'll reduce her bedtime bottle from 7-oz to 6-oz.
Most babies tend to drink a little less once they're on solids. I think the rule-of-thumb I've always heard is that they should still get ~24oz a day?
ours stayed the same. she's still drinking just as much(~ 6 oz bottles) and as often (5 times a day) but also eating 2 meals and lots of puffs/snacks in between.
Mine still eats almost the same, he went down from 7 oz to 6 oz in his 3 daycare bottles, and he is having solids/purees/cereal 3xday. Not a real big change here
I didn't notice a big difference in the amount he was nursing (keep in mind I was nursing, not pumping/bottle feeding so definitely harder to know exactly) until about 11 months, at which time he really started eating quite a bit at each meal instead of just sampling and playing.
From about 6-12 months he nursed at (approx) 7 am, 9:30 am, 1:00, 4 ish and 7 pm. The first feeding to go (at around 11 months) was the 4 pm--he was just more interested in playing and sitting down to nurse became a fight. So that nursing session got replaced with a solid food snack. From the time we started solids at 6.5 months, I just kind of added a meal in slowly so for a while he was nursing on that schedule AND having a solid food meal of breakfast, lunch, and dinner (did I mention I have a huge child?!).
At the time of weaning (22 months), he had normal meal and snack times and nursed at wake up, nap time and bedtime, so you can see how we kind of cut down on nursing times and added food in slowly.
I definitely wouldn't expect to see a big drop in his BM intake right away. Remember, your milk (or formula) should be his primary source of nutrition for the first year.

ok, that's what i thought. it sounds like everyone is adding solids in addition to regular feedings, so DS will still be getting all the milk he did before.
DS is turning 6 months in a few weeks, so i'm trying to figure out if i need to change what i send to daycare. he's currently finishing 3 bottles of 4 oz milk. i'm able to pump about 14 oz during the work day - should i send a couple 5 oz bottles instead? and when he starts solids, i'm guessing he'll only be taking 1 solid meal per day and then build up from there, right? so i could do the solid meal at home and send only milk.
I haven't noticed a drop in BM intake with solids, however I do notice that when he teeth are really bothering him, he eats less. Sometimes there will be 2 bottles left when I get home. He is a snacker so he gets 6 3oz bottles and nurses on demand when I am around. He will only nurse for about 5 minutes unless it is before bed or the middle of the night.
We have kept his bottle amount the same and added solids at night. First it was just oatmeal for a week or so, then we added a veggie with the oatmeal. Now he gets solids morning and evening and soon we'll add a lunch time solid. No snacks yet. Sometimes he is not interested in his food in the morning so he doesn't eat it.
