Toy Story on Ice?

This is coming to the Cedar Park center in April and I was thinking it could be a fun thing to do with the boys. We haven't done anything like this with them before (not so much as a movie actually). How old do you think kids need to be before they can really appreciate something like this? I think Leo might be good, but I'm not sure if Charlie could sit through it yet.

Also, do you think it's a big deal to get seats close to the action if you want younger kids to be engaged by this kind of show?

Re: Toy Story on Ice?

  • We took Steven to Disney on Ice in Nov for his birthday and he LOVED it.  He was entranced, and he laughed, sang, and clapped.  He sat still the ENTIRE show, save intermission (if you know my kid, that's pretty much unheard of).  Definitely worth it for us.  My mom splurged and got us 3rd row seats, and it was awesome sitting that close.  If we ever go again I would definitely get close seats - I think it really helped holding his attention.

  • Griffin was about Charlie's age when we took the boys to see Yo Gabba Gabba.  Maybe he would be okay with it?  If not, you or your DH could always take him out for a quick walk around or something.

I think I will mention this to DH--I think Jack and Griff might really like it!

  • We took H to Sesame Street when he was 2 and he loved it.

I think it depends on your kid and their temperament. Does the little one like Disney stuff? If so, he'll probably be good. I'd go with expectations that we might have to leave early, but hope for the best :)

  • We took the kids along with my niece who is five days older than DD to see Toy Story on Ice here in Portland last October. My niece LOVED it. DD is a scardy cat and freaked out and cried as hard she possible and DH had to leave the arena and walk around with her the entire show so he missed it and I left after intermission. DS liked watching all the lights and movement (he was only 4 months) So, I guess what I'm saying is it's hit or miss. Depends on if your kid gets scared of things like that.
