My SIL is coming to town soon, so I suggested that we hit up the zoo. The H was horrified and insists it's really broke down. Not quite Staten Island Zoo, where they have a squirrel exhibit, but pretty bad. I think he's crazy, because it seems like a decent zoo, panda repo aside.
If it's kind of busted we'll go to the aquarium, but the aquarium is double the price. IDK why he's being all snotty about it, so I should just make him do the legwork, but whatever.
Re: ATL zoo
Your DH is crazy. MrsH and I went with our LOs in October and it was great. The neighborhood is a bit sketchy (it's close to the baseball stadium), but the zoo grounds were very nice. The animals seemed quite happy. A lot of them had babies, and unhappy animals don't breed, so...
at your H.
Some parts of the zoo are a bit hilly, so be prepared to walk. There was a huge playground, carousel, and a train, but both of our LOs were fast asleep by the time we got to that part so I can't comment on those, but know that they are there.
If you've alread been to the aquarium, then I'd do the zoo to mix it up. I've been to both now and would probably want to see both again next time we're in the area since DH didn't come to the zoo.
okay, here's the story.
This has been going on since forever, and I don't think they realize they do it, but whenever we make plans with H's brother (and his wife and their kids), they will always change one aspect of whatever plan we have. Like if we say, hey we're going out for chinese, you want to come, they'll say yeah but let's do italian. H's sister is visiting with the niece right before Easter, so since we were kind of planning on doing some zoo/aquarium trips soon (Joaquin has recently started losing her sh*t whenever she sees anything fuzzy or fish-like) we figured, hey!
Of course we started making plans without talking to BIL first, so as soon as H put out 'either the aquarium or the zoo', all of a sudden the aquarium allegedly costs $60 per adult (the ANNUAL PASS costs that much...) and the zoo is trashy, but there's some kind of free show over near center for puppetry arts and maybe we could bring the toddler to go look at the dinosaur sh*t at Fernbank. Yeeeah.
So I told H I'd double check with the internet because I was pretty sure neither was the case. And, look at that. So we're leaning toward the zoo. lol.
