Took DD#2 to her 2 week checkup and she is not at her birth weight yet. She lost a lb before we left the hospital, so she had a lot of catching up to do. She is almost there though - 3 more ozs to go! We have to go in next week for a weight check, which is an unscheduled visit. We've already seen her doctor 3 times in 1.5 weeks (jaundice and weight checks) - luckily they are not charging me our co-pay for these unscheduled visits!
Her doctor is also worried about her breast buds (first of all, I never knew they could get those - DD#1 didn't get enough breast milk to develop these, I guess). Dr is worried because one is larger and firmer than the other. She is worried that it might be infected. I'm a little worried!
Re: Baby's 2 week check-up
I don't have any advice, but have had a similar experience.
DS went from 8 lbs 11 ounces to 7 lbs 7 ounces and by three weeks was back up to 8 pounds 14 ounces- hooray!
We also went to the doctor at 1.5 weeks for a regular check, the following week for not pooping and an irregular newborn screen, and at two weeks for his well baby.
Plus, we also have breast tissue (in our DS!), but doctor is not concerned. It hasn't grown, but seems like it would be so uncomfortable.
Oh, the fun of mommyhood!
