Today I had my annual GYN exam and was able to spend an extra 30 minutes or so talking with my doctor about us TTC, which was so nice! Just a quick recap--i've only had three cycles since going off BC in February.
I expressed my concern with the long cycles and possible lack of ovulation and she also agreed that there could be an underlying problem...or it could just be how my body operates. I went in to today not expecting to get anywhere since I know that action really isn't taken until after trying for at least a year. However, she said that my lack of menses (or long cycles) is good enough reasons to order some tests. Hopefully Monday or Tuesday I'll be able to go, and they are going to run tests for CBC, FSH, hCG, LH, full thyroid screen, and thyroid antibody as well as check to make sure I'm not anemic.
I'm really glad that she was supportive of doing this--she wants to get what my numbers are and then I'm supposed to call her when I do get AF again so she can look at everything closely. Anyway, I'm almost hoping there isn't a problem, but then again, it might provide some answers to my long and unpredictable cycles.
I was impressed that she was being this proactive with me though! : )?
Re: Dr. Appt Follow-up
Megan, I'm glad you were able to discuss things with your doctor today. I'm sure that did make you feel a lot better. I'm happy that they are willing to run tests on you so soon.
I hope and pray that everything is alright with you. Please keep us up to date on what you find out.
BTW, who is your doctor? I go to a practice in Frederick that I love...OB&GYN Center.
That is great Megan! I'm glad your doctor is being proactive. Good luck with the testing.
Hope you and Justin are doing well!
That's great. It's so helpful when your doctor actually listens and is proactive.
I had long cycles too after I lost Raymond and starting using the cbefm to help figure out my o date.
TTC since Jan 07. Dx with PCOS Jan 08
Sounds like you have a great doctor!! I hope you get some answers soon. Keep us posted.
