What can I expect? My guy is AS (mild) and I?m thinking maybe there is a hearing issue. My mom suggested I get him tested. How long will he have to sit still for?
My DD is almost 4 just had her 3rd hearing test today. I stayed in the booth with her at all times. Each time she started out sitting in a regular chair inside the booth just so they could put the probes in to measure fluid/pressure. Then she sat in a kiddie chair and they put the headphones on her & she had to stack a lego block everytime she heard the beep. The last part of the test, the audiologist went in the next booth & said words to her through a headset that only DD could hear. The last two tests took about 10 min. since DD was more familiar with the situation.
*The first test she didn't cooperate as well because she wasn't sure what was being asked of her & the audiologist was getting impatient with her and you could see that DD caught on to her frustration and it was making her more anxious.*

If it's a sound booth test, I agree with the PP. They will most likely let you in the room, although my 4 yr old does better without me in there with her. Layla had a puzzle to put together, and every time she hear the beep, she put the puzzle piece on the board. Expect to be patient!! I had to learn this one the hard way! That's why I can't be in the room with her. I tend to want to "help" too much with the testing, which isn't what they want. Good luck!
