Hi! I have a 3 month old and my family Is looking to move anywhere north....somewhere lake Stevens to kenmore/Edmonds and anywhere in between. We are going to drive around this weekend to check some of the areas out but would like to hear what others think of the area. We want to start considering school districts since we plan on being there for awile. I tend to like Edmonds area but of course it's a little pricier to buy there.
Any tips/advice is appreciated!

agree, I'm in a nice little neighborhood (on Rucker Hill), but it's surrounded by typical Everett- I'd love to move to West Lake Stevens (other side of the lake feel so much farther away), north Snohomish.
We live in the Silver Lake part of "Everett" (actually unincorporated Snohomish County) and love it. We are practically in Mill Creek and live in a wonderful, safe neighborhood with a park, sidewalks and lots of families. Good freeway access and shopping. Just because something has an Everett address, don't rule it out. There are some great places around here.
So true! Plus there are parts of "Lake Stevens" that have an Everett Address, and a lot of people don't know that.
Not a fan of Marysville either, not just for the trains, but the area really isn't that nice. It hasn't kept up with the influx of people moving there!!
I LOVE Mukilteo, which is right on the sound, near Everett and parts of it have an Everett address as well. I grew up in unincorporated Snohomish Co with a Bothell address and loved it. It was annexed into Mill Creek in 2005, and the area has gone slightly down hill. Mill Creek is a nice area to live but has a lot of by laws you have to follow but there are a lot of new homes that are JUST out side the city limits. Bothell is also fantastic area to live.
You can't paint your house certain colors, can't have too many vehicles, can't have certain things parked in your yard. I'm sure some of it has changed though but it's the main reason why my parents sold their house the same year they were annexed. Mill Creek enforcement was already knocking on their doors asking them questions. They lived in their house for 29 years, bought it before Mill Creek was even a city. But that's how it goes in some cities. I'm sure you can look it up on their web page, or just google it. It's been 10 years since I've lived in that area.

This exactly. Lots of shops on First Street, great restaurants if you can manage a night out, and I love the Farmer's Market.
YES!!! Find a city with a great farmers market. Everett has a decent one, but I love Bellingham's. Marysville's died out, and I've heard great things about Edmonds and Snohomish.

Not all of the Mukilteo schools are good. Mariner High School is far from good, and the elementary schools around Casino rd are also scary.
We used to live in Lake Stevens, and I love the community, but between there and Snohomish, I think the Snohomish schools are better. The school district we moved to here in MI is amazing and my son doesn't want to move back to Lake Stevens.
We live in Edmonds and love it. The Farmer's Market is great during the summer. Also, there are lots of community sponsored events for the little ones - storytime at the library, "Fairy and Elf parade", beach "classes", etc. We actually live in the Lake Ballinger area of Edmonds so it is a bit less expensive than the Edmonds Bowl and still close enough to participate in everything downtown.
I agree with this. Our address is Everett, but I hate telling people that. We're in Silver Firs, so if we were another mile or so to the east, our address would be Snohomish. I do like our neighborhood and like living here. I've been thinking lately that if we were to move again (without leaving the state), I'd like to go to Snohomish.
