How many days would you wait before you let your kid sleep in their recently painted room again?

We painted H's new room over the weekend and even with the window open, it still smells like paint. She's been sleeping in our room in a PNP but none of us get very good sleep when this happens. We didn't use low VOC paint or anything (just plain ole Behr) so I don't know when it's safe to let her sleep in there again. How many days would you wait?

  • We painted our master a few months back and I would say after 3-4 days it was much better and it didn't smell that strong anymore.  For my kiddo, I would wait a few days after that - maybe 5-6 days?

  • Until there is no odor b/c it's still letting off chemicals.
  • Everything I've read says that regular paint continues to off gas for years, although at a much lower rate than it does in the beginning.  According to google, just because it no longer smells does not mean it is safe.  Personally, I would wait at least a week, but I'm pretty conservative about these things.
